Forms Tour

Energy Flow

By using forms to visualize the flow of energy we can gain a clearer picture of what is happening than with vectors. In forms the Poynting form is given by S = E ^ *H. Where "^" is the forms hook operator and "*" is the forms star operator that will be explained on the next step of the tour. In this equation we see that both the electric field and the magnetic field are one forms. The hook operator creates a two form, S. Thus the energy, S, can be visualized as flowing through tubes formed by the E and H fields.
