The pattern multiplication principle states that the radiation patterns of an array of N identical antennas is equal to the product of the element pattern Fe() (pattern of one of the antennas) and the array pattern Fa(), where Fa() is the pattern obtained upon replacing all of the actual antennas with isotropic sources.
